PRESIDENT

The Gram Panchayat President is the political and administrative head of a Gram Panchayat. The President, who is democratically elected from the ward members, presides over the meetings of the Panchayat Administrative Committee and leads the overall development of the area. As a representative of the people, the President acts as an important link between the people and the government officials.
​Key Responsibilities & Powers
​President of the Administrative Committee: Presides over the meetings and committees of the Gram Panchayat Administrative Committee and leads the implementation of the decisions in accordance with the law.
​Development Supervision: Plans and evaluates development activities in the areas of agriculture, drinking water, roads, education, health, etc. within the Panchayat limits.
​Financial Control: Supervises the financial affairs of the Panchayat. Takes the initiative to present and pass the annual budget to the Administrative Committee.
​Emergency Powers: The President has the power to take necessary measures in emergencies in the interest of public safety or the interest of the Panchayat (this must be subject to the approval of the Governing Body).
​Coordination: Work with the Panchayat Secretary and other officials to ensure that government schemes are delivered to the people in a timely manner.
