The Gram Panchayat Secretary is the Chief Executive Officer of a Gram Panchayat under the Local Self Government Department (LSGD). He is a civil servant responsible for implementing the decisions of the Panchayat Governing Body, managing the day-to-day administrative affairs and delivering various government schemes to the people.
​Key Responsibilities
​Administrative Administration: Supervise the employees of the Panchayat office and manage the day-to-day office operations smoothly.
​Preservation of Records: Maintain the Panchayat funds, accounts, minutes of meetings and other official documents in a legal manner.
​Project Implementation: Timely implementation of the annual plans approved by the Gram Sabha and Governing Body and various development and welfare schemes of the Central and State Governments.
​Financial Affairs: Assist in preparing the budget of the Panchayat, maintain accurate income and expenditure accounts, and submit the Utilization Certificate.
​Legal Duties: Act as Chief Registrar of Birth and Death Registration and Marriage Registration. Grant various construction permits and trade licenses as per the rules.
