Year of establishment: Vallikunnam Grama Panchayat officially came into existence in 1953.
Administrative center: Manakkad was designated as the main administrative center of the panchayat. The panchayat office here plays an important role in coordinating the development activities of Vallikunnam.
📜 Historical and cultural background
Artistic and cultural tradition: Vallikunnam is the birthplace of talents who have left a unique mark on the political and cultural history of Kerala. The works of drama teacher Thoppil Bhasi, who popularized Malayalam theatre, famous writer and journalist Kampissery Karunakaran, and famous poet Puthussery Ramachandran, etc. have greatly influenced the growth of this country and its local administration.
Agricultural tradition: Vallikunnam is also an agricultural area where paddy, sesame, cassava and rubber grow abundantly. Many farmer-centric development activities have been implemented from time to time centered around the Panchayat office.
